Hi! I'm Melanie, although I go by MelMel.CasCas on social media. I'm a character designer and illustrator based in Los Angeles, California.

Although I drew as a child, I dropped art completely during most of high school and only picked it up again in my senior year, when I discovered that concept design was a thing. As a childhood bookworm, to me it feels like a visual “Choose Your Own Adventure” book where story is the most important feature, informing every design decision and bringing life to every project - who wouldn't want to work on something exciting like that?

I've been studying art since 2016, sharing my art on social media/offering commissions since 2017, and working as a freelance illustrator since 2021. Although I'd like to eventually return to taking classes, I'm starting to learn that making time between deadlines to work on personal projects is essential to continued growth as an artist. So keep an eye out and you'll probably see me bouncing between projects as time passes!

In my spare time I usually prefer to study character design some more, like the art nerd I was born to be. But when my brain gets fried and I do go out, my favorite pastimes consist of rollerskating, messing around with resin crafts, and taking walks around my ever-green childhood neighborhood (during which I get distracted every few steps to take reference photos, cuz trees are cool and sunlight is pretty).
